Self-Assess Your Hospital on “10 Steps to Improve In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Outcomes”

Self-Assess Your Hospital on “10 Steps to Improve In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Outcomes

Greetings,

Worldwide, cardiac arrest among hospitalized people of all ages is a high-risk event associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Therefore, the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) has identified 10 key steps that can lead to better patient outcomes and survival. These steps take a holistic approach and are designed to be embedded within a system of care that promotes preparation, prevention, performance and a culture of person-centred improvement.

We are pleased to invite you and your institution to take part in two related initiatives supporting the global implementation of these 10 steps:

  1. Self-Assessment of Your Hospital
Conduct a self-assessment of your hospital’s current level of the 10 steps. This assessment will help identify strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance your hospital’s readiness and response to IHCA. The survey contains 50-101 questions and takes about 30 minutes to complete, we recommend that a team with knowledge about the pre-, intra and post-arrest management collaborate.

  1. Participation in a Research Project
If you do the self-assessment above before 31st March 2026 and answer YES on question 8. Do you give permission to use data for research as well as development of toolkits? and on question 101. Would you like to receive the same survey again in 1, 3 and 5 years to follow improvements? we will invite your hospital to participate in a research project aiming to follow development of IHCA systems of care worldwide with follow-up assessment at 1 year, 3 years and 5 years. Your participation will contribute to a better understanding of global practices and support the development of evidence-based recommendations for implementation. The research project has been given ethical approval from the Swedish Ethical Review Authority number 2025-03241-01.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact abel.roland@erc.edu.

Thank you for participating. Your engagement is vital in shaping the future of IHCA care.

Sincerely,
